Our Beliefs

Our beliefs are the foundation of our faith and the essence of who we are.

  • The Gospel:  The good news of Jesus Christ and His death, burial, and resurrection for the redemption of mankind is the only essential message to tell, believe, and embrace.

  • The Kingdom of God:  We are designed to live personally and corporately under the rule and reign of God.

  • The Purpose of Mankind:  We were created by God to know Him and to glorify Him forever.

  • The Church:  The family of God is the source for nurturing spiritual maturity and doing life together.  We are to be the continued presence of Jesus in and to the world.

  • God:  There is only one God.  He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe and exists eternally in three personalities:  the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  These three are co-equal and one being.  God is perfect in every attribute including holiness, love, power, knowledge, justice, and mercy.

  • Jesus Christ:  Jesus Christ is God's Son and is co-equal with the Father.  He is both 100% man and 100% God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of His people by dying on a cross.  His death became a substitutionary atonement for the sins of mankind.  After three days, He arose from the dead to demonstrate His power over sin and death.  He ascended into Heaven's glory and will return again someday to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

  • Holy Spirit:  The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son and is the divine helper, assistant, counselor, and instructor.  He is present in the world to us, aware of our need for Jesus Christ, and indwells the life of every Christian from the moment of salvation.  The Holy Spirit provides the believer with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.

  • God's Word:  The Bible is God's Word to us.  It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs, living, and authority.

  • Mankind:  Human beings are made in the spiritual image of God, and as the supreme object of God's creation, we are designed for dignity, relationship, purpose, and greatness.  However, Adam's sin catapulted this creation into a fallen state, plunging all descendants into depravity and spiritual death.  All of us are therefore marred by rebellion and disobedience toward God and, by a result of this sin, are deserving of eternal separation from God.

  • Salvation:  Salvation is God's free redeeming gift to us that comes from the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  This gift is received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone.  When we turn from our sin and turn to Christ (repentance), His perfect obedience is credited to us so that God sees us as the very righteousness of Christ.

  • Eternity:  People were created to exist forever and will do so either eternally separated from God because of sin, or eternally with Him through forgiveness and salvation.  To be eternally with Him is to experience eternal life together in Heaven, while to be eternally without Him is to experience never-ending desolation and separation in Hell.

  • Priesthood of the Believer:  Each person is able to come to God for himself or herself.  All believers are ministers and servants of God and have been made "priests unto God" by the death of Jesus Christ.  Christ alone is the mediator between man and God.
