July 22-28, 2012. Students will depart from the church at 8:00am on Sunday July 22nd and return to the church about 6:00pm on Saturday July 28th.
Project 127 is named after James 1:27: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure fautless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world". This verse embodies what we will be doing on Project 127 this summer and in future summers. Students who were in grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 during the 2011-2012 school year will attend Project 127.
This year we will be traveling to Slidell, Louisiana where we will be working with the Epworth Project who helps to repair and build homes for those that have been affected by Hurrican Katrina and other storms since. The Epworth Project has a building on the campus of Aldersgate UMC in Slidell that was built by volunteers to house volunteers that come to the area to serve. We will be repairing homes in Slidell and New Orleans and will even get a chance to taste a little of the culture of New Orleans while we're there.
This trip will be very much like SOS was: long van ride, construction work, sweating a lot, tired at the end of the day, etc. But this trip is much cheaper than it cost to go to SOS!
Early Bird $425.00 (pricing for first 2 weeks) 3-28-12 through 4-11-12
Regular $450.00 (step up after Early Bird price) 4-12-12 thru 6-7-12
Final Price $475.00 (one month out from event) 6-8-12 thru 7-9-12.
Sign up ends two weeks out from the event.
All students must fill out a Code of Conduct and Medical Release Form to go on Project 127.
Final payment is due 14 days before event. Underwriting is available on a need basis. Registration for an event, even without payment, is an agreement to participate in the event. Upon registration, the student ministry staff reserves space, lodging, airfare, etc. associated with the event in the registered participant's name. Should the registered participant not participate in the event for any reason, the staff will do everything they can to recover any or all costs incurred by the church. The registered participant will still be responsible for any costs incurred by the church that we are unable to recover.
