Confirmation classes begin January 22, 2012 and are scheduled on Sunday mornings from 10:45am to 12:00 pm for 8th grade or older students. This will take the place of our 8th grade Sunday Morning Bible Study class from 1/22-4/29. The class will be taught by a rotation of the clergy here at the church. The parent class will be held at the same time as the student class and will be taught primarily by Josh Arrington.
Confirmation of Faith class is a big step in the spiritual journey of our students. It is the time when they can decide for themselves to join the church as an official member and, if they haven't already, accept Jesus Christ into their life for the first time. Because it is so important there are expectations of the students. There will be homework assigned and quizzes administered during class time. Also, there will be interviews with one of our clergy at the end of the class before the student is confirmed in front of the church on April 29th. Now, I know you're thinking, "not more homework!". Relax, the homework load is not tremendous and will not take more than a few minutes for each assignment. Also, students are allowed to miss no more than 3 class sessions.
2 class sessions will be held during the Confirmation Retreat at El Shaddai Retreat Center in Yorktown, Tx February 24-26, 2012. The retreat is a fun and special part of the confirmation class that you register for upon sign up. If you have any scheduling conflicts or will be missing any classes, please contact the student ministry office ahead of time. You can call at 210-696-1033 or email Clay at clay@uchurch.tv.
The cost of the class is $95 and includes everything, even the retreat. Please don't let the cost prevent you from participating. We have financial underwriting available. Contact Jack at jack@uchurch.tv for more information.
All confirmands must fill out a Code of Conduct and Medical Information Form on file in the Student Ministry Office.
Final payment is due 14 days before event. Underwriting is available on a need basis. Registration for an event, even without payment, is an agreement to participate in the event. Upon registration, the student ministry staff reserves space, lodging, airfare, etc. associated with the event in the registered participant's name. Should the registered participant not participate in the event for any reason, the staff will do everything they can to recover any or all costs incurred by the church. The registered participant will still be responsible for any costs incurred by the church that we are unable to recover.
