Will and Meng En Brooks
Q: How long have you been in this specific mission field?
A: We have been in the field for 7-8 years, or two terms
Q: How long do you plan to serve your present location?
A: We are committed to this field and so would stay until retirement unless otherwise reassigned by our leaders.
Q: What other fields or ministries have you served and for how long?
A: This is our first and only field of service with OMF
Q: Describe in a short paragraph the specific mission work you do. Tell us about the people to whom you minister.
A: We are church planters which, simply put means we seek to help see churches born in places there are none or too few. We do so on a foundation built off the basic blocks of disciple making. This means we work to see reproducing disciples congregated (as a small group or church) and then reproducing other congregations of disciple makers. To be honest what we do is not rocket science but that is by design as we seek to create a model of church planting and disciple making that is highly reproducible and excels at multiplication. Working amongst Thai Buddhist of Thailand, and working alongside of the Thai church we have cast the following vision for our ministry: “Through God’s grace we desire to see the body of Christ unified and energized towards movements of vibrant, reproducing communities of faith seeking transformation by God’s power in the families of Thailand and beyond.”
Q: What are the goals for your ministry in the coming year?
A: In the coming year we would like to train and see workers being able to engage in life and ministry utilizing a special gift set, namely coaching and playing soccer. Because of the sport’s popularity and inclusiveness of the men of the family, we see the opportunity to use the sport to move towards the above mentioned vision, especially in reaching families and training to make disciples. And so we hope by the end of this year we will have a core group of committed leaders (by leaders we don’t mean experts) who are willing to grow and train others as they too continue in their training.
Q: In what ways, other than financial, can The U partner with you?
A: We need prayer partners who will seek the Lord for the Thai and Thailand, as well as for us and the ministry. We have a real need for partners who will stick with us through thick and thin, as we are not perfect supportees! We would also like to ask for folk to mobilize for potential participants on the field. We have need for short to long term help who have a heart for discipleship, families, and are able to play and coach soccer. Please send us your youth who are playing club and high school soccer!
